installing slackware

I bought a computer with a Pentium 2 Processor (350 megahurts), 64 mb of ram, and Nvidia Video Card. It has Windows 98 SE on it. I do not want that on my computer. Will Slackware run on it? I cannot get the computer to boot from the cdrom. I have looked for a way to change that in the Bios settings and did not find anything that would help.

Why not just ask your question in one forum instead of posting the same thing on various distro forums.

You will have to create a boot floppy to install from CD.

Insert your CD, and a disk into your floppy drive (I'm assuming it's A:\)
Open a DOS prompt, and cd to the CD drive.
In there, you should find a program called RAWRITE.
Once you found it (it may be in a sub directory) - type the following:
Code:
RAWRITE bare.i a:\
This will build a boot floppy for you - using the bare.i kernel. This is ideal for you, because as it says, it's a bare kernel. This kernel is much more compatable with that HW.

Good luck.

why on earth did you do this?????

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
