Installind Slamd64-current. "cannot execute binary file" message about installpkg
Hi, all. I'm very much a linux newbie, and I'm stumped on installing Slamd64. I have been using Slax as my boot disk, and have partitioned my disk using Partition Magic. My partitions (in order) are: NTFS, FAT32, LinuxExt3, LinuxSwap, LinuxExt3, LinuxExt3. I saved the Slamd64-current/slackware/a/ packages to the FAT32 partition and used Slax to cp them to the first LinuxExt3 partition. I fired up package-installer, which does okay for the first few packages, but when trying to install bash, it gives a "cannot execute binary file" message about installpkg (btw, installpkg is not among the files I downloaded). I did check the md5sums, all was fine. What's going wrong here?
