Ok, I have decided to join the bandwagon, problem is, the door won't open. I boot the CD and it says I need to partition my drive. So, question 1-is there an auto setting that does it for you? Then, I try to select hd1
Quote:
fdisk -u (hd1 location)
I get a message that
Quote:
The device cannot be opened.
Now, I have the drive formatted to ext3, and the boot mentions ext2 something or other. Do I use Gparted to reformat the drive?
I burned my discs at 8x, I tried 4x, but the CD's write speed wouldn't allow it.
Slack is pretty much a hands on distro. I'd try cfdisk to examine your partitions. If you're happy with what you have, use those. If not, create them with cfdisk.
Don't worry about the ext2 thing.
My partitions are formatted as reiserfs. Well, except for the swap LOL
returns after you booted from the CD and are at the prompt? If your disk is recognized it should show up in that listing, and you should see any partitions that the disk already contains.
