i whant to know where i can find driver for a lucent winmodem to install in slackware 10.1 or 10.2

since you still don't have any reply's here's my two cents: winmodems are crap, don't bother with them.
I used to have a conexant winmodem, struggled with the drivers for weeks, finally bought an external hardware modem, connected it and was ready to go! No drivers needed :-)

I agree - a serial modem will give better performance also. Though I'm now finally on DSL, for the coming years I plan to buy one of the new Devolo modems, which is a serial modem that connects to your box through ethernet.

Many people have put alot of effort into developing this modem driver for linux and in contrast to the above posts it is a viable solution. For the standard Slackware 2.4.31 kernel use ltmodem-8.31a.tar.gz. If you go with the 2.6.13 kernel there is a patched driver out there that you find by googling using "ltmodem" and "kernel 2.6" as search terms.

The modem runs as fast as any hardware modem since you are usually limited by line speed.
The modem also supports fax using efax-gtk.
