Install 10.1 from CD hangs on CD-detection

Hi there!

Right now I am trying to install Slack 10.1 from downloaded iso.

Everything works normally, like 10.0. And when it comes to the point the setup asks for the source CD the problems rise. No matter if I use auto-detection or tell the CD is in hdc the setup does nothing.... it doesn't react on ctrl+c but on ctrl+z so I can kill it from behind.

I had this problem once or twice with 10.0 but I tried it about 10 times now... and it simply doesn't work.

I use a Siemens Amilo A AMD3000+ ...

Can someone tell me what might be wrong? Anyone having the same problem?

Thanks a lot, greetings, Sascha

Couple shots in the dark. Did you md5 the download to make sure it wasn't corrupted?? Is the drive you're using the same drive that burned the disk, a cd-rw drive, a drive KNOWN GOOD for reading burned CDs from the drive that burned the cd? Hmm... all I can think of.

Thanks for your reply!

Well, I didn't check md5. It is a DVD+R drive and I burned the CD in the same drive I try to install from.

And the thing that make me wonder the most is, that I had the same problem with Slack 10.0 some times, but it worked after the second or third try. Exactly the same problem. But also on different computers...

I didn't try it on another computer with 10.1 by now... maybe thats an idea ...

Hasta luego, Sascha

Ok.

Not good! Or is it good?

I tried it once again, and ... zzzzpppp ... it works.

Damn, I hate it when things happen like that. I did the same as some many times before. Ok, I am happy it is installed now, but that does not clear the problem from before. Just lowers the priority :-)
