Icon for inserted USB stick does not appear on desktop
I have Slackware 15 up and running with almost everything working as designed, but I have one outstanding show-stopper problem: the desktop icons do not appear when inserting a USB stick. If I boot up with a stick inserted, it does show up on the desktop, and I can mount and use it, but when ejecting it the desktop icon does not disappear. That tells me that there is no communication between the device and the desktop.
The console log shows the device as being recognized, and if I go to /dev/disk/by-id I can see the device appear when it is inserted, and disappear when it is removed. So udev is working correctly, running rule 60-persistent-storage-rules. But then something drops the ball.
I'm thinking that I have something wrong with udisks2 or gvfs, but I don't know what.
