htdig install
How do I get htdig working on Slackware 9.1? htdig, apache, php etc are all installed straight off the Slackware CD.
I'm confused because there are two www directories, one at /var/www and one at /opt/www. Htdig is in the second one, my HTML is in the first. Can I move htdig to /var/www, or don't I need to? 'man htdig' and 'whereis htdig' both return zero. I've searched here and at linuxpackages.net, but the results returned by both search engines are amazingly irrelevant. TIA Michael Hall |
Or maybe there is something that eveyone uses besides htdig.
Is there another tool for website indexing and searching that is preferred? I just started looking at htdig myself... I did find this HTDig HOWTO... http://www.scrounge.org/linux/htdig.html#quickstart |
I dunno about alternatives to htdig, I suppose they exist but they aren't well known if they do. Htdig is pretty good for small sites, intranets, etc.
Anyway, I did eventually sort out htdig on Slackware 9.1. In the long run, maybe I'll rebuild a tgz package that installs htdig into /var/www, but the quick fix basically involved some quick edits to /opt/www/htdig/conf/htdig.conf, then editing /etc/apache/httpd.conf to change the ScriptAlias directive and cgi-bin locations to point to /opt/www/cgi-bin. Or something like that. |
