How-to install slackware from source?

So, I was planning to install the new slackware from source to truly optimize it for my system.
Basicly the process goes like:
1. Boot from CD
2. Make partitions
3. Compile needed packages

How can I give custom parametres for the gcc? Can I use same as in Gentoo, so just make a /etc/make.conf file and what's it's syntax in slackware?

Is there already a tutorial for this? If I could just find a way to encrypt all of my hard drives too during the installation I would be set for the installation :D

You'd have to setup a compile environment first -a small Slackware system with compiler, etc. Have a look at the DYI Slackware project.
There's not that much to be gained by optimizing unless you are heavy into video editing or such.

I found out the basic DIY project and not any slackware specific ones. I would try it to make a truly custom system and to learn on how to do it. Well, it's a minor issue though. What about the make.conf thing? Does it work like in Gentoo or how?

It's nice to learn new things, and with Slackware, you can.

this is why linux from scratch exists.........to make a true custom system..........

Yeah, I have noticed it but I'd though I'd try it with Slackware first. Well now, I just try to install the new 11.0 from packages and when I get it up and running smoothly, I will delve into creating a LFS system on a USB-stick or something :)
