Help Installing Slackware With Damn Small Linux Already Installed
Hello, I am a newbie to the world of Linux. I have recently been able to wipe windows 98 of my computer, and replaced it with Damn Small Linux. I want to install Slackware, I downloaded the .iso images off the torrent link that is on their website, yet I still can't figure out how to install. Damn Small is installed on the HD, and when I try to run Slackware from my cd-rom it just goes strait to lilo and boots up DSL. I set the BIOS to make the hard drive run last, but I am still suck. Please help me!

You set the BIOS to 'boot' the harddrive last. Likely issues are a bad ISO download or a bad ISO burn. Try again.

I set the BIOS to boot from hard drive last. What I need to know is there a specific way to go about installing from startup, like what files do I need on a floppy etc.

Ok I got to the installation part, I installed the packages from both disks and made a primary partition for Slackware. I made a boot disk also. When I try to boot from HD it gives me a bunch of 99s for some reason. I only had to use 2 disks also. What are the other disks for?? When I try and boot from floppy it says welcome to Slackware custom boot floppy and then it searches for loadlin or something like that and you can hear it scanning the floppy drive for about 30-45 seconds. It says loadlin not found and takes me to the next steps in which I login as root and then type the command "X" to get me to the desktop. That's as far as I got without freezing.

The CDs 3 and 4 contains the sources for all the programs on CD 1 and 2, they're not used during or after the installation.
So I assume you can't still boot from CD? How could you install DSL? When installing Slackware, during LILO setup, choose Expert mode and install to MBR. |
