help at Slackware 10.2


Hello ,
I just want to try the latest Slackware 10.2 .

But when I start the installing it always freeze, always !

And the last message on the screen is this :

then it freeze and do nothing ...

But when I install Mandriva or OPENSUSE there is no problem .

My System : Asus A7V8X ( VIA KT 400 ; Geforce 6800 GT; SB Live ; Athlon XP3000+ ; 2048 MB RAM

Welcome to LQ Did you check the md5sums? Are you certain that your download is fine? I recommend burning iso files at the slowest possible speed, or at least 4x. Have you tried the disk in another machine?

Hi and thx ,
but I tested the CD in other computer
( Athlon XP 2000+ , ASROCK K7VT4A+ VIA KT400a , Soundblaster PCI 64 , ATI Radeon 9700 Pro , 768 MB Ram )
and it works fine ...

So, from what i see it freezes right about before it probes the hard disk.

Do you have a sata hard disk ?
Also, did the other computer you tested it in have an ide hard disk ?

In many boxes the kernel freezes before it probes the sata hard disk.

did you try sata.i kernel ?

No ,
I have one hard disk for testing software .
When I want to test a new linux , then I use this hard disk , it is IDE .
So try to install it on 2 computer , but it was the same hard disk ...

use bareacpi.i

i have faced the same problem
and solved it choosing bareacpi.i kernel
while booting

(write it on boot screen)

boot: bareacpi.i
