having trouble getting AMD graphics to work with Slackware 15 new full install (Radeon 780M Graphics)
I had to get a temp computer (complicated story) I decided to get a mini (GMKtec AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics). It had an unused M.2 so I put in another 1T nvme planning on installing Slackware 15. Slackware 15 installed just fine and I got Grub configured to dual boot I also used slackpkg to upgrade-all.
the problem is that xorg will not start with 'startx' I also tried setting the run level to 4 in the /etc/inittab file. I am used to NVIDIA graphics but don't know how to handle the AMD side of the house. it seems like they (AMD) at one time had an install.run type script that would help, I can not find this script except in some documentation the downloads only offer RPM and deb packages (that I can find)
the xorg log is below:

I did see a post saying that the 780M graphics may work under Slackware current better than Slackware 15 If I can't get this working I may try that approach but would rather stay on 15

Try using only kernel from current in 15. Might be enough, if gaming isn't important.

The simple solution was installing Slackware current, from what I read the kernel needed to be at least 6.5, I am sure that what you suggested would have also worked as would compiling a newer kernel.
Thanks for the reply biker_rat. I also eventually found the AMD install scripts but could not find one that supported that hardware only the already-packaged ones.
I used the Slackware current live iso to check, I liked it as it was snappy even running off a mini SD card in an adapter.

Test a newer kernel as suggested by biker_rat.
Just tested the latest of the latest kernel on broadcom NICs and the newer kernels have the drivers. The 5.15.160 kernel did not...

thanks,
Yep, solved and working great. And playing any game I have tried. Although it gives a warning playing X4 Foundations about using mobile graphics it runs flawlessly. Starfield also plays great as does Baldur Gate 3. Of course, when taxed the fans kick on high gear but I at least do not notice any throttling. Very impressed with this tiny mini-computer that only cost $550. I did a little compiling using the slackbuild for qemu. the first time it was set to -j1 (forgot a dependency the first time) and it took quite some time. Setting it to j16 was a lot faster. Little powerhouse and tiny.
