gui doesn't start up right away.

Slackware opens find then it asks me for my login and password in text mode. I can login then type startx and it loads. I would like to login in gui mode so I can go to differant gui.
thanks
Jerrit

runlevel

This is a runlevel issue. run levels are found in /etc/inittab

If you do "less /etc/inittab" you will be able to read the file. It's easy to understand.

In any event, you will need to do "runlevel 4" and reboot. :-)

you will need to change your /etc/inittab file.

look for the default runlevel, and change accordingly. It looks like this:
Code:
# These are the default runlevels in Slackware:
# 0 = halt
# 1 = single user mode
# 2 = unused (but configured the same as runlevel 3)
# 3 = multiuser mode (default Slackware runlevel)
# 4 = X11 with KDM/GDM/XDM (session managers)
# 5 = unused (but configured the same as runlevel 3)
# 6 = reboot

# Default runlevel. (Do not set to 0 or 6)
