Question Fatal error 104


i have recently installed slack 10.2 and everything was going fine untill i used the command startx and it came up with the IO error 104 and server error no sceens found
can anyone help

What monitor are you using? What video card? What mouse? You should check what the var log message file says. You can re-run xorgsetup or xorgconfig. But you will have better luck with correct monitor Horiz. and Vert. ranges, correct mouse setup and at least vesa driver.
You can edit the xorgfile with pico /etc/X11/xorg.conf as root.
Check out install guide at bitbenderforums and documentation at linuxpackages for step by step guides if 'this is how how do it all' at top of LQ slackware forum is not enough.

hey thanks for the help it turned out to be the horz and vert refresh rates
