Espeak support for speakup included in latest Slackware Installation?

Hey Folks, does the latest version of the Slackware installation DVD come with support for the Espeak synthesizer in conjunction with Speakup? From what I've been able to gather from the mirrors, speakup is included in the Huge kernel. I've tried typing the following line at the boot prompt: huge.s speakup.synth=soft, but that yielded nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm really not an expert on this topic, but as nobody else has responded I'll offer what I can. While the huge kernel does contain the speakup drivers, neither espeak, nor espeakup programs are included in Slackware. Therefore, it looks like speakup support in Slackware is only useful for those with a speakup supported hardware voice synth.

Both espeak and espeakup are available from slackbuilds.org, but they're going to require fetching, building and installing before speakup will be able to send words to them.

You will indeed need a hardware voice synthesizer. See for instance the SPEAK_INSTALL.TXT file in the root of the distro tree.
