Error while Installing

While installing slackware 10.2, I got 3 error messages about corrupt files., but was able to continue and finish installing.

They were:

/var/log/mount/slackware/k/Kernal-Source-2.4.31-noarch01.tgz

/var/log/mount/slackware/l/arts-1.4.2-i486-1.tgz

/var/log/mount/slackware/l/glibc-i18n-2.3.5-noarch.tgz

What should I do to fix it? Can I just get those files somehow? Or do I need to reinstall?

Just get them from any mirror (probably your ISO image is corrupted or the CD got damaged).

No need to reinstall

k/Kernal-Source-2.4.31-noarch01.tgz
Here:
http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackwar...1-noarch-1.tgz

l/arts-1.4.2-i486-1.tgz
Here:
http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackwar...4.2-i486-1.tgz

l/glibc-i18n-2.3.5-noarch.tgz
Here:
http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackwar...5-noarch-5.tgz

After that you should run
Code:
cd <wherever you put those files>
upgradepkg --reinstall *.tgz

Hi,

Too address the problem! Did you do a md5sum check for the downloaded install cds' before the burn? You should always check the sums to be sure the iso is not corrupt.

theoffset gave you some good advice on getting the files.

I downloaded the files and put them in a folder in /home/USER/Stuff

then I went to the Konsole and typed in the command and it said:

Error: there is no installed package named glibc-i18n-2.3.5-noarch-5.
(looking for /var/log/packages/glibc-i18n-2.3.5-noarch-5)

This was for all 3 files.

Just use pkgtool. It's easier to see what you have. su to root. change to the directory where you downloaded the packages (and you better have kernel something, there is no such thing as "kernal"!!!

Go to option R and try to find if they're installed..If they are, delete them.

Then go to C which is install from current directory. install your packages.

Happy Slacking.

P.S. Make sure you always get your Slackware installation and packages from Slackware or official mirrors and not some unknown third party source.

lol Didn't notice the typo, sorry one of my friends on WoW has a character named Kernal, I guess it just stuck in my head.
Anyway, I used pkgtool, removed the files that had messed up during install, then installed the ones I downloaded, and it all went well. Thanks again guys!
