/dev/md*p* Intel BIOS RAID partitions not detected by the installer

Hi everyone,
I'm just doing that awful thing asking a question as a first post. Sorry for that. Well, I've been reading that forum for a long time now anyway
--
I've just set up new configuration with Intel Matrix Storage / RST on my desktop. Unfortunately, Slackware64 14.2 doesn't seem to see partitions. It detects /dev/sda1 but not /dev/md126p1, composed of /dev/sd[a-d]1.
The problem is probably in /sbin/probe, similar to the one solved here:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ce-4175561628/

My partition has major 259 and minor 3
I could probably use solution from link above after modifications (probe.patch.txt) but honestly, I'm afraid I'll screw things up. On the same disk I have other system and archives.

Maybe there's an obvious solution I fail to see?

/dev/md126p1 is 83 type with ext4. Disk is DOS/MBR, not GPT.

Cheers,
Marcin

[EDIT] Seems I'm doomed.

Since no one else has yet responded I'll mention a couple of items. Note that I have no experience with your device ( Intel Matrix Storage / RST ) and I haven't run Slackware version 14.2 yet.

When I successfully set up software raid systems using standard HDD and SSD devices I set the partitions (e.g. /dev/sde4) to type da. Previously I used type fd. I've never tried to build an array using type 83. You may have better success if you don't use type 83.

The LQ member Richard Cranium has posted quite a bit about issues involving the configuration of software RAID. You may want to search for those posts. Here is a thread discussing RAID which you may find helpful. There is good information near the end of the thread so read it all.

The RAID manual pages may be helpful ("man 8 mdadm", "man 5 mdadm.conf") along with the use of commands such as "mdadm -D /dev/mdxxxxx", "mdadm -E /dev/sdxxxx", and "cat /proc/mdstat".
