Lightbulb create new ISO image from existing One

hello;
Today i downloaded an -current ISo which was 4.5 and a tad big for DVD. i did everything I could to write it on dvd. but it wasn't possible.
So i went to IRC chaneel and they advice my to mount that image and remove the source directory and by mkisofs make a new one and the write that. So i did; but the Image wasn't bootable.
So here i am asking you if; i am in gentoo for example and I want to do make new image the way that is bootable and without error what should I do?
waiting for yu kind and through response!

Did you read this file as well?

ftp://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/slackware/s...nux/README.TXT

That tells you how to make the iso images just like Slackware's

Yes; Of course. all of these manuals are based upon the fact that ytou already have slackware installed; but what if you want to create and do that job on the other distros such as gentoo

Does gentoo have mkisofs or growisofs?

If so then there is no difference at all.

If you wish to get a valid direct '-current' ISO then I suggest that you use Alien_Bob's-script -mirror-slackware-current.sh to download '-current', create a verified ISO for CDROM/DVD. UK backup of script: Alien_Bob's-script -mirror-slackware-current.sh. Either script is used to download the '-current' arch of choice and create ISO for 'x86' for 32bit or 'x86_64' for 64bit. You can either pass parameters or edit the script to create the 'ISO' medium of choice. Another plus is that you can have a local tree for the arch selected. Be sure to select a mirror to use. The script is well documented to allow you to make choices. Alien_Bob is a Slackware® contributor and has graciously provided the scripts/tools. By using the script you are insured a valid copy of the ISO.

Alternatively, you can download a trimmed-down DVD ISO image of Slackware-current.

I maintain a 2 GB ISO image here: http://taper.alienbase.nl/mirrors/sl...e-current-iso/ which is being created by the same mirror-slackware-current.sh script which was mentioned by onebuck.
The ISO images are automatically re-generated within a day if there is an update to the ChangeLog.txt . You can be fairly certain that you are downloading the most recent stuff.

I can keep the size of this ISO image below 2 GB because I do not add the source tarballs to the image file.
I also have an ISO of 64-bit Slackware-current... I assume that you are able to guess the URL.

Eric
