cfdisk not able to see/change partitions on a SATA drive on a 915 chipset system.

I am trying to install Slack 10.2 on a system having SATA hard disk and Intel 915 chip set motherboard. I started installation by booting from CDROM using sata.i kernel. My motherboard is ASUS-P5GD2-TVM/TMX series.

When I try cfdisk, it gives a message stating that the partition table is read-only. It does not display the linux partitions already existing. I created these partitions using the partitioning program that comes with Ubuntu.

Has anybody succeeded in using Slackware 10.2 on the MB+SATA HD mentioned above?

No problem installing to a VIA VT6420 SATA RAID Controller, but can't answer
for your particulars. I do see one thing. You must enter the drive, not only
cfdisk. For instance, "cfdisk /dev/sda" would work, but "cfdisk" would not
display the drive. Also, that i915 chipset is new, and some fellas are having
problems with it ... you might need a later kernel to detect it.
