cant get 2nd install cd recognized....

im doing a fresh install of slackware 9.1. only. the 1st disk is unpacked easily, but it refused to acknowledge the 2nd disk (in essence it just sits at the change disc screen). Ive tried burnt cd's in various setups from 2 comps, so i thought it not the cd, its gotta be the iso. but then i d/led 2 different isos and that didnt work either. i tried both cd drives hooked up on the comp, still nothing. im outta ideas, anyone think of anything?

thx in advance

If necessary you don't need the second CD, it contains only GNOME and KDE. If you do want either/both of those than you can use SWareT which will download and install the required packages for you. I would guess downloading large packages is not too much of a problem since you've downloaded the second ISO three times already. :)

Hello,

hmmm, have you tried to mount the CD and checked whether all files are Ok? Did you try to boot from this CD?

the cd checks out fine on another comp, so maybe its just my comp. it has issues bout booting from cd too :(. even flashing bios i cant get the boot priorities to stick (yes, the jumper is set correctly). I gave up on using the 2nd disk, ill just get gnome with the SWareT proggie that nis suggested. the install finished fine, but i need to configure the display settings for the gui (picked blackbox for now) from the command prompt. when i run the gui, the display is outta wack, most likely due to the crappy monitor i have. but also it freezes once it gets there, and im not sure how to check whats goin on. bear with me, im new to the whole linux scene :)

thanks for the help so far

video card is geforce2 mx btw

run xf86config

or xfree86setup

I think those are the commands. It will configure for your montior.
