I found the entery in Foxfire. It is set as 1 max. I was not able to change it. ?? see above.
Also, I have used Seamonkey, and Koqueror, both have the same problem as Firefox.

They're just different transfer protocols. It really doesn't matter which one you use. Just check and see if any of those addresses I posted works. If they do, you can then edit /etc/slackpkg/mirrors to point to that server and then use slackpkg to update your system, which will include updates for Firefox. I'm not positive whether or not this will be enough to fix your problems, but you definitely want to ensure you're fully up-to-date, just in case.

Sorry, not sure why you are not able to change it; is it grayed out or something? You said see above, but not sure what you were referencing?
I know Seamonkey shares the same base of Firefox. I am not too familiar with Konqueror, but if it is and old version of the browser, it could also have the same issue with supporting current TLS standards.
Not saying this is the issue for sure, but it does appear as if the browsers on your system are quite old (by browser standards that is).
Though I definitely agree with bassmadrigal; getting your system up-to-date should be the end priority and also a pretty good chance of resolving your issue.

I went back and tried the "about:config" in Firefox. I was ale to change the line to 3. Does not change things.
I believe I will get the 14.2 DVD and start over. I was not able to find a mirror that would work.
Thanks for your help.

Has the Slackstore closed? Icould not bring them up with my working computer. I was hoping to buy a DVD for release 14.1.

The SlackStore does not seem to be working for me either. However, you can download the ISOs free. If you have a spare DVD and burner or a USB stick with sufficient capacity, you should be able to download the ISO, write it to the DVD/USB drive, and install it from there.

Gordie:
Thanks for the link. I have been away from Slackware and was not aware of all that has happened.
After seeing how old release 14.1 is and how many revisions have been made to Firefox and Thunderbird,I am convinced that I need to start over with 14.2 or better.
Thanks everyone I will be back when I am up todate.
BYTW: I have learned something new everyday I have been workng on this. I love it!
