I think I need to pick another mirror. I can ping www.slackware.com, but not psu.
But, this is not the fix for my system.

Try with other servers. There's a lot of choices in that file and see if any of the others work. You can try running my mirror-speedtest script to see if there's any that decide to work for you (and if there's multiples, it will show you the fastest one).

All of my replies on this thread are from a second computer. I can not get out to the internet with the slackbox. I am typing by touch on a Kindle. No transfer between the two.

How did you set up your networking? How do you try to make a connection to the NET? Wired or wifi? Do you use NetworkManager?
EDIT -
Code:
bash-4.3$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Generated by NetworkManager
search Home
nameserver 192.168.35.1
bash-4.3$

I setup my network with the Slaskware DVD witch uses netconfig.
I am a single pc wired through a Netgear modem/router to the web.
What do you mean edit?
When I run "/etc/resolve.conf" I get exactly what you have shown.

I do not know if "network manager" is active or not. It is installed. I do not know anything regarding this software.

Can you access slackware.com on your web browser? If so, you should just need to find a mirror that doesn't use SSL so you can update your system.

EDIT meant that I edited my post.
Now, it appears to me that you don't have an active networking connection to the internet

I can "ping" www.slackware.com. and www.wsj.com. I can not "plng" modem or router, but do not know if they are legal objects for this comand.
I also visited your posting on speed measurement with Slackware. Very interesting, but I will try it later.
I believe that I am wired and working electronically. I think that I have a security code problem.
Now reading Slackware Linux Essentials.

I just did a Google search within Firefox for WSJ and got a correct return. Clicked on the returned URL and promptly received this:
Secure Connection Failed
An error occured during a connection to pixel.everesttech.net
Peer reports incompatible or unsupported protocol version.
(Error code: ssl_error_protocol_revision_alert)
I do not understand any of this?? It happens every time.
Any ideas? could be an revision issue. I have been assuming the 14.1 package was selfconsistent. That is, the issue for Firefox would work with the issue of Slackware since they are both on the DVD.

Did you try changing the supported TLS version through the about:config? Like I said, it does not appear as if that version of Firefox supports TLS 1.1 or 1.2 by default. Most websites that use https really should be moving away from TLS 1.0 (and even 1.1).
