automatic slackware installation
I'm starting a test project to verify if we can switch our client PCs from windows to linux.
I need a simple and automatic procedure to install and configure the new PCs. I've read Alien's document about Slackware PXE Server, ok. Now I need a way to do the setup without asking the human to choose the various options. Something like a config file with kernel, keyborad, partitions, packages .... and other settings predefined. Any suggestion ? Thanks. Stefano. |

One option (which I'm studing ...) is to customize the setup scripts (/usr/lib/setup after booting from the DVD) ... but I hoped someone had already done ;) |
Image Disk Drives
If all of the computers are the same, you could install a couple the way you want then copy the disk drive image to the other computers.
If there are only a few different types of computers you could still use this strategy, just copy the disks in groups according to computer type. It may be faster to remove the disk drives and set up a "production line" for the copying then reinsert the drives. |

Also I think this still applies. And this. Not exactly what you asked for, but gets the jobs done. All links from the very top of google results. Have a nice day, bert |
