9.1 installation freezes at seemingly random points

ok so heres the problem, i downloaded slack discs 1 and 2. formatted my 4gig hd, configured my install and it starts going. it looks to be going fine until it just freezes on installing gnome-utils. i rebooted and tried just installing gnome and kde since that was all that was left and it says the packages may be corrupt once it gets going.

then it says its cant write anymore because it's out of space. i checked and rechecked my partitions to make sure i had space (3.6 gigs). so i started over from scratch and this time it froze on mozilla. i started over again and it froze on some other package that i cant remember at this moment.

i checked the packages on the disc and they are fine. anyone have an idea what is wrong?

Check the md5 sums of the disks; they may have been corrupted while downloading. Another option is to install only the basic stuff and install the rest with slapt-get or SWareT. You'll need packages from a/ ap/ & n/ Good luck!

What about hardware? Is your memory/HDD/video card OK?
