[SOLVED] No sound after 14.2 u/g but alsa beep OK

I hope this helps someone because it's just taken me a day and a half to fix.
After upgrading to 14.2 there was no sound. alsamixer showed pulse by default but I could F6 to the SB card which looked fine (nothing muted). "aplay -L" showed sysdefault:CARD=SB, output from alsa-info.sh seemed to compare OK to my other system where sound was working, yada yada yada
Eventually landed on /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf, which the upgrade changed (no .new file). Changed all references from card 0 to card 1 (the SB card). Also removed the 2 pulse lines from /etc/asound.conf.
That worked. I expect there's a neater way to do it, but I'm leaving it for now

Thank you for this, it's something to watch for when upgrading.
