SARPi Site RSS Feed Error
 

Just FYI. Clicking on the SARPi RSS feed (https://sarpi.penthux.net/rss.xml) results in this error: "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below" and as indicated in the error message the XML tree is displayed. This is a fairly recent change in behavior. Same results using both Firefox and Chrome.

For what it's worth, I subscribed to the feed using the Firefox plugin, "Smart RSS," and the feed seems to work just fine.

I didn't mean to indicate that the actual feed was broken, only that when the RSS button on the SARPi site is clicked in the browser, it displays the XML tree instead of a html document, which it was doing up until recently.

I have encountered that many times, yet I've always found that the rss feed works just fine when entered into an rss reader.

I would not consider it a problem.

Thanks for bringing this up. What's significant is that I wrote the RSS feed generator for the SARPi website myself, for both the XML and HTML format output pages. Therefore the likelihood of failures and/or errors is somewhat higher than if I'd used established software and methods to prodice the same result(s). However, it does seem to be working as expected right now.

If you've had issues with viewing the XML RSS feed in Firefox and Chrome then I'd assume that there was an error somewhere, but having checked it out I can't find any issues with it. It's all automated and has been working very well throughout. However, that's not to say it will remain to do so and I certainly welcome any and all feedback and reports of potential problems.

Oh duh. A "SUE". I confused the output of the RSS Feed button with the "SARPi Project RRS Feed" link on the main page. What can I say? I'm old and getting creaky between the ears. Sorry.

I created the RSS HTML page for those who don't have a RSS feed reader installed - as most browsers don't include one these days. I once had plans to make it more user-friendly by adding sort functions to it, etc. but not sure I'll ever get around to it. Eaiser just to install the RSS feed addons.

Haha! No need to apologise for it. I'm becoming a little that way myself! :D
