SARPi 2 (current) - Can't ssh in for install-

I'm tired and can't think right now... SARPi2 install

I followed:

https://sarpi.fatdog.eu/index.php?p=setupnic

...and when I tried to log in as root:
Code:

Permission denied, please try again.
So I added a root password and re-tried:
Code:

Permission denied, please try again.
So, I added a user and re-tried:
Code:

Permission denied, please try again.
I went to edit PermitRootLogin in sshd_config and there doesn't seem to be a shhd_config.

Anyone have a solution?

******UPDATE**********
SOLVED: I'm a retard. I grabbed a Pi3 from my Pi2 box. Reloaded sarpi2 on a Pi2 and ssh worked fine.

Is this after Slackware ARM has been installed and rebooting?

- write sarpi boot image to mmcblk0p1
- boot RPi from uSD
- execute setupnic instructions
- attempt to ssh in to run setup <---right here

- run setup and install Slackware
- PROFIT!

^IGNORE - See my first post for the solution.

I disagree with your self-analysis. If I kicked myself every time I made a mistake I'd be covered in bruises constantly. It's how we learn - by our mistakes and the mistakes of others. Thanks for sharing.

Setting up the RPi NIC manually isn't required. There is a much easier option on this page: https://sarpi.fatdog.eu/index.php?p=preinstall

Editing the /boot/cmdline.txt file before booting the RPi and using the 'nic=auto:eth0' parameters is a much simpler way of obtaining a network connection. Be it DHCP or manual settings - it makes no difference but it saves some fiddling about, head-scratching, and time. Whether I'm installing locally or remotely I generally use this method because it just works. This concept is something I stole from alienBOB's web content many years ago. It's pretty much flawless in operation.

Thanks but it's Slackware that's awesome. I'm just a messenger! :D
