Raspberry Pi 3 bcm2837 (aarch64)

Thanks János,

Added build support, tested, should work

After next testing the updated image. Booting is carried out using u-boot

kernel 5.6.14

In the kernel package there is no longer anything related to u-boot.
Now it fits both rpi-3 and rpi-4

kernel 5.6.14

Thanks to sndwvs, support for Raspberry 3 and 4 will me merged to images_build_kit soon, so anyone can build a Slarm64 installer for themselves, and can install a completely 64-bit ARM-based Slackware derivative on their 64-bit capable Raspberry Pis.

Sorry it is not a duplicate, but there is only one letter difference. https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...64-4175675454/
I would still concatenate them into one....

Ok, do not mind combining these topics into one "Raspberry Pi 3/4 (aarch64)"

So is it possible to update the Pi 3's firmware as well to boot off of an USB HDD/SSD?

sndwvs 07-03-2020 02:30 PM

Try updating the firmware to the latest one and boot without a SD card (the last image has a 2nd level bootloader updated there), and from the transfered to usb-sdd/hdd. setup.sh supplemented by raspberry pi

No 'user' input on this thread...so I'll make a few notes.

DL'ed the xfce image and gave it whirl on my 3b+. Just using the sd card for the system. No USB drive connected.

I DO NOT like the 'heartbeat' LED blinking, would like the usual activity that sarpi does. Tried poking the net for an answer on how to set it back, but I don't seem to be asking the right question.

Seems the system crashes after about 10 minutes of runtime...I boot it up and then open some web pages and then go do some other things around the house...come back to the pi and it's locked solid. No display, but the heartbeat is still blinking. No IP reply from any pings. Need to power cycle to recover. :( Logs don't show any issues. Crashed in the middle of creating this post!

Looking into hotwo update the rootfs...in time.

I appreciate someone building 64bit for the Pi 3. Thanks!

sndwvs 10-29-2020 04:50 PM

thanks,
there was simply no answer for rpi 3 as I have not personally tested it.
regarding LEDs
Code:

echo default-on > /sys/class/leds/*/trigger
or
Code:

echo none > /sys/class/leds/*/trigger
and if you use booting with runlevel 3, is the same behavior?
