No sound for RPi4 on Slackarm 15 using Sarpi installer

I installed Slackware-arm 15 using Sarpi installer for RPi4. There is no sound from HDMI or jack.

alsamixer gives:

card: pulseaudio
chip: pulseaudio

/proc/asound/version : Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version k6.1.16-v7l-sarpi4
/proc/asound/cards: no soundcards
/proc/asound/devices: 33::timer

There seems to be no soundcard. Under Raspberry Pi OS Bullseye I have sound. What could be the solution?

John

Not trying to discourage your efforts but you should try Installing Slackware on the Raspberry Pi 4 it's "64bit ARMv8 AArch64/ARM64" slackware.

Last I looked at my setup, there was jack audio, I don't remember if I tried hdmi audio.

Have you uncommented dtparam=audio=on in /boot/config.txt ?

I do have jack audio but not via hdmi.

@netcrawl or anyone else, using the link in my other post to install, there is no /boot/config.txt.

I found another thread indicating to enable CONFIG_BCM2835_VCHIQ in the kernel, there is CONFIG_BCM2835_VCHIQ=m in /usr/src/linux/.config but there is no .ko anywhere.

Quote:
cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [Headphones ]: bcm2835_headpho - bcm2835 Headphones
bcm2835 Headphones
1 [vc4hdmi0 ]: vc4-hdmi - vc4-hdmi-0
vc4-hdmi-0
2 [vc4hdmi1 ]: vc4-hdmi - vc4-hdmi-1
vc4-hdmi-1
Quote:
-l, --list List all attached devices
tvservice -l
[E] Failed to initialize VCHI (ret=-1)
-s, --status Get HDMI status
tvservice -s
[E] Failed to initialize VCHI (ret=-1)
This isn't showstopper anything, I'm just shaking things out with my recent rpi4 install.
