Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

This is on my banana pi pro. Since I installed the system, I've never had any issues with any updates.
I had sound prior to applying last updates, as there were so many updates, not sure what to check. There's no /proc/asound.
I'm following up on one of my rpi3 to see what happens there.
attached alsamixer-sun4i-codec.jpg was from 11/19/20.
thanks
It's missing from the driver list in menuconfig entirely despite having the dependencies set correctly, so it hasn't been built.
I'll have a look at it for the next kernel update.
Stuart, Thank you!, you've been so spot on with everything, I'll let this one slide .
That's weird - the module is surfaced within the drivers list in Linux 5.10.7 but wasn't there in 5.10.5. I'll push that out in the next update.
Ironically, Phil and I recorded an episode where I tested reinstallation using the new Kernel on the Banana Pi and it worked fine. I didn't test sound though!
