No eth0 on RP 3B+
There was a hardware change between the Pi 3 and Pi 3B+. I think this change is responsible for slackware 14.2 not having an eth0 device. I'm working with the July 20 2018 build for Pi 3. Is there any easy update which will enable eth0 on the 3B+?

I have a look at this post. The post is related to the wifi card, but if you look at this link, you can see that there are other firmware packages. You can probably follow the same steps to load a different package. I have an RPI3 B+, but haven't loaded Slackware on it yet. I'll try to find some time soon though. I'll post my experience with that then.

FYI, I just did a -current install and my eth0 showed up fine. However, I had to install the firmware in order to get the wifi to work.

My apologies! You are correct. I don't know how I missed that. I was using the sarpi3-installer for -current.

The problem was DIFFERENT.
The system had been copied from a different computer, which resulted in the new eth being eth1 instead of eth0. Delete the ...../udev/...net file, the system reforms itself and everything is fine.
