Was it impossible to compile these dependencies from source ?

These libraries are part of the Samba package in Slackware, but when I initially investigated on Samba 4 I proposed Pat to split these into separate packages so people would not always have to install the full samba package. Unfortunately he refused that.
The sources for these individual packages are still here: http://www.slackware.com/~alien/samba4/sources/
So if you do not want to install samba you might want to build the smaller sub-packages using these SlackBuild scripts.

No ididnt really build them I just rpm2tgz/txz'd them...

...Oh those links are good.

sidenote though
Unfortunenately I took slackwarearm hf off the chromebook

after wrestling for sound and compiling kernels and not knowing the config for such I couldn't take it and caved...

it now uses the arch linux arm peach...

Until I can battle another day...

Another irk was the ncdu package in sbo was not compiling

I knew I was going about it wrong. Looking at the peach image I need to learn about kernel and arm and a better flash kernel...

But then I could try slackware files with this kernel and modules though.

Well you could have taken Arch kernel and modules and stay with Slackware ;-) .

In addition to those three items above, I found I needed
/usr/lib64/kde4/kio_smb.so
/usr/share/kde4/services/smb.protocol

to get samba to behave in dolphin.

... because its buildscript doesn't handle the case of arm architecture when setting compile flags (although it detects ARCH correctly):

Code:
if [ "$ARCH" = "i486" ]; then
  SLKCFLAGS="-O2 -march=i486 -mtune=i686"
elif [ "$ARCH" = "i686" ]; then
  SLKCFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -mtune=i686"
elif [ "$ARCH" = "x86_64" ]; then
  SLKCFLAGS="-O2 -fPIC"
fi
Just change it to, for example,
Code:
if [ "$ARCH" = "i486" ]; then
  SLKCFLAGS="-O2 -march=i486 -mtune=i686"
elif [ "$ARCH" = "i686" ]; then
  SLKCFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -mtune=i686"
elif [ "$ARCH" = "x86_64" ]; then
  SLKCFLAGS="-O2 -fPIC"
else
  SLKCFLAGS="-O2"
fi
For my RPi 2/3, I in fact use the flags "-O2 -march=armv7-a -mfpu=neon-vfpv4" (which don't really matter that much in the case of ncdu).

Lightbulb

Interesting that was the unbound error? Actually I just commented the offending line out and it solved it when figured.

Though I was looking into those flags also very interesting.
