Zip drive won't work due to security policy

Hello, I've just installed Slackware 12 and this is the first of what I imagine will be lots of questions. When I try to mount a zip drive I get the following message:

A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")

What is this security policy and what do I need to do to change it?

Thanks,
gr

12.0 and HAL - READ THIS!

In the post linked above, this is probably the relevant sentence:
Quote:
The *best* way until/unless something changes in the dbus code (which doesn't seem to be easy to do in an effective and secure manner) is to manually add users to the needed groups in /etc/group.
Have fun!

Yes - add your user's login ID to the (I'm guessing...) plugdev group in the /etc/group file, type /etc/rc.d/rc.messagebus reload, and things should be fine.
