Switched from XFCE to xmonad about 6 months ago.
It really does rock.

Same here. I use compiz instead of xfwm4, but my desktop environment is XFCE.

I have used Fluxbox for years on everything, but I'm being seduced by Enlightenment 0.17.x. I'm using it on both my Slackware machines and my Debian machine.

I tried them all, but at the end of the day I always fall back on fluxbox.

I use XFCE.
I like a light, fast, and simple (read non-smartphone wanna-be) DE like XFCE or LXDE.

I can do without the eye candy also. Just give me a simple interface that will let me get my work done.

I'm using Xmonad.

I use Xfce but haven't voted because I've only used Gnome and Xfce so any vote would be meaningless. Oh -- and KDE a few times for 10 minutes when using Knoppix. And ixi.Desktop for a month under SCO UNIX ~1993, remembered as very nice ... ?

xfce is my only favorite DE,so i voted

KDE - I like the polish of it and 4.10 runs very well on my ageing but more or less capable system.

In the past I would vote KDE3, now xmonad or subtle + xterm like a "full" desktop environment with bash/tcsh or mc as a file manager.
I cann't help myself but KDE 3.5.10 is still superior even to latest KDE 4.10.x in sense of clarity & intuitivity, ergonomics, configurability, speed & memory consumption and greater conformity to classical system /etc tree configuration (cups comes to mind). I have still installed Slackware 12.2 on one older Thinkpad and from time to time I'm playing with it and still get assured KDE4 is a regression and took a wrong direction.

I used KDE for years, but grew tired of all the crashes in 4.x versions. Switched to XFCE (compiz and emerald) several months ago.

TWM is to window managers what C is to programming languages: you can always count on it being there on any Linux or Unix that has X.
