xserver starts in black and white

Hi everybody,

I am beginner in linux. I installed slackware 10.2. When I used startx command, the xserver didn't start and I thought that something was wrong in the configuration so I used xorgconfig to reconfigure the resoultion and other things. I successed but the problem is that everthing is in black and white, there is no colors and also the mouse doesn't work. I don't know why and I don't know how to fix it.

Note: I am just a beginner and I don't understand linux very well.

Hi

Do you see a black and white background with a black cross in the middle? It could mean that the server works, but you have a mouse misconfiguration. If you have a PS/2 or USB mouse, run xorgconfig and when asked input /dev/input/mice as mouse port.
