How do I reinstall xscreensaver in 14.2 ?

Hello,

You can do that with slackpkg or upgradepkg if you have ISO/DVD at hand.

With slackpkg, assuming you've defined a mirror in /etc/slackpkg/mirror :

$ slackpkg reinstall xscreensaver

With upgradepkg, assuming slackware DVD/ISO is mounted:

Code:

$ upgradepkg --reinstall /dvd-or-iso-mount-point/slackware64/xap/xscreensaver-5.35-x86_64-2.txz

Didn't work, xserver is BROKEN, thanks for your help.

Late reply sorry,

My shadow and users uuid's were different and produced errors on shutdown, I also screwed up NFS, lastly the machine is an old athlon XP which sometimes would not launch Xfce automagically.

Maybe I installed current udpdates by accident. I would like to reinstall without Kde and xfce.

I need to read the manual more.
