Question XScreenSaver - Old Version

Has anyone else noticed that unlocking the screen with stock XScreenSaver in Slackware 14.1 gives the following message:

"This version of XScreenSaver is very old! Please upgrade!"

Is this something that XScreenSaver shows after a certain amount of time past its release, or is it something that I should be concerned about?
