xscreensaver not working

Hi slackers!
I was wondering if someone can help me get xscreensaver working again. I recently upgraded to X11-6.8.1 and since then, instead of a screensaver appearing I get a blank LCD on my laptop.

I'm running Slackware 10.0 with a few packages from current (like X11 and the glibc version required for that) and fluxbox 0.9.10 as my wm.

When I run xscreensaver-demo with verbose output I get:
Code:
xscreensaver-getimage: grabDesktopImages: True
....
xscreensaver-getimage: 0x18000b0 not top-level: turning off grabDesktopImages
The screensaver I am using is xanalogtv which uses a desktop image and distorts it like an old tv running tests. It used to work.

Any ideas?

I have no idea. But I have the same problem in Gentoo using the Xscreensaver. Anyone knows what's causing it?

Marghorp,
I figured it out on my machine. I had to change the BIOS power management settings. For some reason they were set so that the machine went into suspend mode after only 5 mintues idleness, while my screensaver was set to kick in after 10. Funny, I don't remember changing anything in there.
Lemme know if that works for you.

Zdravo!

No that's not my problem. When Xscreensaver should kick in, I just get a blank screen. It is still turned on, it just doesn't show the screensaver, just blanks and that's it.

Any more details?
Have you run xscreensaver-demo to configure the screensaver?
What window manager are you using?
And do you have a line in .xinitrc to start up the screensaver when x windows loads?

Gee, I really don't know about all of these. Haven't thought of it so much, the last time I installed. I am using KDE, and X, without gnome. I chose the screensaver through gui. I will try those when I get back to linux. But I have some work to do before. Thanks for the tips anyway
