xpdf won't start

Hi,

since the latest upgrade, xpdf on Slackware64-current (xpdf-4.02-x86_64-3) does not start anymore.
No error/crash etc. - GUI just won't come up.

Changelog from Feb 15 says:
Quote:

xap/xpdf-4.02-x86_64-3.txz: Rebuilt.
Recompiled against qt5-5.13.2.
I downgraded to xpdf-4.02-x86_64-2, this version works as expected.

Can anybody confirm this issue?

Indeed it is working on slackware-current with the latest updates. That last changelog entry for xpdf was on Sat Feb 15 22:57:25 UTC 2020,
and qt5-5.13.2 was added on that same day. Perhaps you haven't run "slackpkg install-new" to get the new qt5 package? Anyways, try running xpdf from the command line and see what errors show up there.

Xpdf is working well here on an updated version of Slackware64-current.

Please run it from a terminal and copy and paste the output so we can better assist.

OK, after double-checking and upgrading almost any package (lacking enough free hdd space I didn't install kde, kdei and xfce package groups) I found that it must be actually the IceWM window manager...

Using twm, xpdf starts fine. Using IceWM, the console (not the xterm) mentions a mere

IceWM: Warning: app trying to map XEmbed window 0x1200006, ignoring
This seems to be a known bug in (grossly) outdated versions of IceWM that lack full qt5 compatibility.

Of course I never updated the IceWM package I got as a Slackbuild (definitely a pre 14.2 build).

I'll try the latest SBo build. Almost sure it will fix the issue... If not I'll try building from latest sources.

Thank you guys, for pointing out this isn't a Slackware issue! :D
