xpdf printing
I had no problem printing from xpdf - for some time. I was using lp and it just worked.
Now it teetotally confuses the printer such that I wrote it off first time after failing to print from 3 boxes(!). But a few days later, all was forgotten, and I was fine - until I tried to print with xpdf. Don't ask me what I've done - I'm been having gremlins and think they are sorted now after restoring a backup. But xpdfs problems still remain. |
Can anything else print from that machine? I'd snuffle around in the various log files to see what's going on: ~/.xsession-errors, /var/log/messages, /var/log/syslog for starters.

libreoffice, firefox, acroread, gimp at least can print. They all see a cups printer, and use it. Xpdf is somehow. . . a bit "ugh" when it comes to printing.

What is the print command in /etc/xpdfrc or in $HOME/.xpdfrc ? It should be "|lpr -P<printername>" or
"|lp -d<printername>". You may change that to "default.ps" and try to print some PDF file. Then examine the resulting default.ps Postscript file with gv default.ps, and print it using lp default.ps. This could help you to see if the Postscript produced by xpdf is defective and is causing problems with your printer or with CUPS. |
