xmms issue

I am using Slackware 10.1 with the 2.6.10 kernel, I configured KDE to use ALSA for all sound drivers and therefore did the same for xmms. The problem is though, sometimes when I play songs they'll just stop in the middle and I'd have to press play to get the song to restart, anyone know the cause of this by any chance?

Try using eSound instead of ALSA as output plugin in XMMS.

Try using the Open Sound System plugin in Xmms. Even if I use ALSA, I use the OSS plugin in Xmms which seems to work fine. ALSA plugin has some problems for me too.

As long as you have the OSS emulation installed with ALSA, you should have no problems using the Xmms OSS plugin.

I've been having this problem as well. Especially when there's alot of hard disk read/write. And i get skipping or crackling noise too.

I just switched to amarok, and don't get the problem anymore. I recommend switching mp3 players rather than Alsa, coz you wont be able to get threaded sound without using alsa.

EDIT, also, from what i see, xmms developers are being very lazy lately... Its been a year since they released a new version.
