maybe it is a silly question, but I've got tired of searching everywhere in the Internet and it seems that I am the only one who is facing this issue (Slackware 11 - x.org 6.9):
When trying to compile some X-based apps, one of the files states that the Xlib.h file is missing. I search for it and I find a symbolic link from /usr/X11R6/include/X11 to /usr/lib/X11 ... but the file is NOT there, it is not anywhere in the installation, actually.
At first I thought that I might have forgotten a package during the installation, but I have found this file nowhere ... (I mean, neither this file nor any other of the many unresolved symbolic links in tye /usr/X11R6/include/X11 directory).
I do not know if x.org 6.9 actually needs those headers, but ... what can I do to compile a program that requires them?.
Any hint on the missging package?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Jacobo.

My wife has Slackware 11; she installed all the packages that came with it.
I went to her system. She has Xlib.h (I didn't try any of the others). It's directly at /usr/X11R6/include/X11; that's not a symbolic link to elsewhere; it's right there.
I'm guessing that something went wrong, either with the installing or afterwards. There's a possibility, of course, that there's a lot more wrong than just the status of your X include files.
If you're sufficiently worried about that, you may wish to bite the bullet and reinstall Slackware 11. Of course, that's a pain.

Thanks for your prompt answer! ... so it seems that it must be there! ... this is good and bad news to me ;D.
I do have installed x11-devel package, looking into it I have found not Xlib.h file (for example), that is the reason why it is not in my installation. I have downloaded that package directly from ftp.slackware.com and it does not contain that file, either. So, it must be somewhere else ... yes, generally speaking, I also believe that I have missed one package when installing, but it is NOT the x11-devel package.
