If you want a package that's built differently (e.g. with newer sources, different build settings, more dependencies, etc), then just edit and use the official Xine SlackBuild.
It took me less than a minute to build xine-ui 0.99.6.
I downloaded the slackware64-current/source/xap/xine-ui directory with an FTP client set to preserve permissions (in my case: lftp and its "mirror" command
I replaced the xine-ui-0.99.5 source tarball in that directory with the xine-ui-0.99.6 source tarball
I ran the SlackBuild
I saw that the part of the SlackBuild that applied the patch didn't work, so I edited the SlackBuild and commented that line out
I ran the SlackBuild again
I saw that the configure step failed because the system had no lirc support, so I untarred the source, ran ./configure --help | grep lirc, noticed the --disable-lirc option, and added that option to the configure step of the xine-ui SlackBuild
I ran the SlackBuild
I used upgradepkg to install the resulting package
Well, okay, "less than a minute" might be an exaggeration. But that's what it felt like.
