xine not playing with bluetooth speaker

I have Slackware64 14.2/KDE4 and xine 0.99.9. I have a bluetooth speaker which works with my browser playing youtube videos. In Systems Settings > Multimedia > Audio and Video Settings > Device Preference, my bluetooth device is set for Audio Playback: Notifications, Music, Video, Communication and games.

So why no sound when playing .wav files?

pulse Audio volume control. Open it then select your Bluetooth device to your player to send it there, or your player then select the input as Bluetooth. The later one I think is it.

see if that works for you.

In pavucontrol, The Configuration tab has only the Bluetooth device enabled. It is set to "High Fidelity Playback". I've tried changing that to "Headset Head Unit", but it won't save that way (there's no Save button). On the Output Devices tab it is set to the bluetooth device, 'Headset', that's the only selection.

Keep in mind that youtube audio plays just fine. I can also play mp3 files using xmms.

I've never fiddled with xine and bluetooh I only know I've had to use pavucontrol at times to select the bluetooth input for the player I was using to get the sound to go to the bluetooth device. But I could try it really fast, hold on.....

I see a selection for my bluetooth headset for xine in pavucontrol. xine its working for me. mp3 out put to my bluetooth headset.

You have to click that button that is in the device that is playing your sound. It's a drop down list, then select your output.

I assume you're talking about the pavucontrol 'Configuration' tab. As mentioned, I do have a "headset" selection, but I can't get the selection to 'stick'.

My 'Output' tab in pavucontrol has only one selection: 'Headset'. I can't find anything else in pavucontrol to change.

But never mind. In System Settings > File Associations > Audio, I changed the preference for .wav from xine to xmms. Problem solved. xine has been a problem from the start, what with its mostly esoteric config option understandable by audiophiles, no man page explaining config option, etc. xine is a program that doesn't "just work" out of the box!
