xgl on Slackware

Hi Folks,

I've been looking for some instructions about installing xgl on Slackware. I use dropline gnome as my desktop environment and I tried some experimental packages provided by some of their developers. Unfortunately none of them worked for me. I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work but never managed to even start xgl. Is there a way to install them from sources provided by Novell? I'm really impressed by how it works and eager to get it. I tried Kororaa LiveCD and couldn't believe my eyes what this thing can do. It's not only good looking but also pretty useful.
I'll appreciate any information that could help me to make it working. BTW, did anybody manage to make it?

Thanks
Chris

Not personally but my colleague successfully installed XGL on Slackware-current by instructions from Gentoo Wiki.
If you get stuck at some point, post here about a concrete problem/situation and hopefully somebody will help you.

Thanks dunric,

I've seen it before but I thought it was too much of a hassle to deal with "translating" Gentoo related stuff to Slack. But if you say it worked for someone I'll give it a try. If I manage to get some promising results I'll publish them here.

Have you tried posting in the Dropline forum thread that discusses the X11 test packs with XGL? I'm certain that someone there could probably help you.

By the way. It's really not a good idea to upgrade at this point, just for the extra glitzy XGL stuff. We'll be adding XGL support to dropline as soon as its stable. To each his own though.
