XFCE issue: start without window manager
Hi,
I upgraded a lot yesterday (BIOS, kernel, -current) and booted into the -current installation afterwards. I logged out and rebooted to do something hardware-related. This morning (fresh boot and logging in from sddm) I find previous sessions opening without a window manager. I should add that switching to text consoles from Xorg has been broken for me for a long time. Eventually I managed to bring up a Dolphin by pressing Super-E (Super-R didn't work) and manually start /usr/bin/xfwm4. So I'm back in action. But when starting a session from sddm the same thing happens. Can anyone give me a hint what might be going on, or how to troubleshoot it? Thanks. |
Commenting myself: after deleting ~/.cache/sessions the login works again, including starting the WM. Of course I was greeted with an empty desktop, but hey. No idea what went south over night. Maybe bitrot.
