An article on the changes to the latest development release of Thunar,
Xfce is coming along really nicely now, if you ignore client-side decorations. Workspaces management is good ; default keyboard shortcuts quite good ; panel management and panel customisation the best, at least among the major DEs ; even Greybird is growing on me. Thunar certainly needs work though ; an option to limit column widths is overdue. Coming from Total Commander and Krusader I just can't take to file managers like Thunar and Dolphin anyway, but they're nice to have for some tasks. Thanks for all the updates.

hmm, you know I've been trying to find an way to fix the missing half of the 'default' theme, maybe I should just fix the toolbar icons in the greybird theme, that might be quicker

What half of the default theme are you referring to? Missing icons? Something else?
As I said, the Greybird theme is growing on me ; I really never took to the default -- Adwaita -- theme.
Another of my preferred options is Linux Mint's theme and icons:
git clone <repo> and then rsync -av mint-themes/usr/share/themes to ~/.local/share/themes, mint-y-icons/usr/share/icons to ~/.local/share/themes, etc.
When I use the Mint themes, I use the Mint-X-Grey theme with the Mint-Y-Grey icon theme.
I could be wrong but you might also need the faba and moka themes from SBo to complete the iconset. I can't be 100% sure about that, but it wouldn't do any harm to install the various iconsets available at SBo. Some themes seem to fall back on others when an icon is missing.
The one that is called 'default' under window manager and was selected by default during the install. There is no 'default' under Appearance and it defaults to Greybird. and since there is no theme named 'default' you can't change Appearance to match. But you can change WindowManager style to Greybird but then you get the - and + instead of a minimize and maximize button.

Oh I see -- it's xfwm you are talking about. Well, people will laugh at me for this, but about the only xfwm theme I can tolerate is this one:
The only problem with these is that I think they don't scale for high-res displays. I don't have one yet but plan to get one -- or two. If they don't scale well, then a new hunt begins. Never a dull moment with Linux!

for me Xfce died with the adoption of GTK3. It was a nice desktop environment and I am very grateful to the developers for their work during the years. Time for something else, I guess...

no. I'll be using 4.12 for as long as it builds. After that I hope that LXQT would've matured enough. Or I'll take a look at Trinity, since I learned to tolerate and even like KDE 3.5
