Besides yawp (Yet Another Weather Plasmoid), another thing I miss from kde-4 is a good gui menu editor. I have yet to find one for Xfce and would be interested in hearing of any you might be using.
Many thanks.

It has never been anywhere near accurate in my part of the world, the left coast of the U.S. On any day, at any time, it is off by as much as 10 degrees or more. It has to do with the agency providing the information.
Yawp, OTOH, allows one to pick from several different sources and one has a monitoring station not six blocks from my location.

In Xfce I like to replace Calligra with Abiword and Gnumeric. I also replace Ktorrent with Transmission. For note taking and documentation I use Zim desktop wiki. I am starting to look for a replacement for Xpdf since it has some oddities that are starting to irritate me. I am running 14.2, but I think the version in Slackware-current has fixed those irritations. Version 4.0 of Xpdf added quite a few features.

It's only off here by a few degrees compared to weather.com each time I check. It's mostly just wrong about when it is supposed to rain or snow because I live so close to the Great Salt Lake in Utah. Lake effect weather and such.

I have found either Evince [Document Viewer] or qpdfview to be the best packages for pdfs. They also both support annotations and are very lightweight. You may find the former to be a smoother experience.

I've been through multiple dark WM themes this evening. A lot of the ones on xfce-look were dull or badly made. By far the best were NumixBLUE [which I've been running on my laptops for a while], Adwaita-Xfce-Dark, Blackbird and Sugarlike.

After some digging, I also found the rather nice Dark Standards which I'm going to hang onto for a little. Pic attached.

As mentioned in another thread, among the "dark" themes for Xfce I like,

I switched over to Evince and it is way better. Aside from annotations, there are also bookmarks, dual views, and continuous views. I especially like the dual view feature when I am looking at reference materials. Often I find that technical books suffer from the pages getting cut off as I switch between pages. So I end up paging back and forth too much. The dual view + continuous view lets me open up whatever I am reading on my large monitor and zoom in to take a look at all of what I need to see.

Cool Another look at XFCE as an alternative

I am giving XFCE another look as I am fairly certain in the long run I will have to abandon LXDE since it seems like a dead project, and supposedly LXQt is the 'successor' , but I am not too keen about LXQt. Overall I do see XFCE as a viable alternative for me. Only one really dumb question on my part - how do I re-arrange the order in some of commands shown in the screenshot:

I want to set the Run Program just above the Log Out - yes I know it makes it more Win9x-ish, but thats just my poison I guess.

The only thing I hate about Xfce is the BS XML menu, PITA to edit.

The LXMenuEditor from LXDE apparently works for Xfce too:

https://wiki.xfce.org/howto/customize-menu

I have never used this, so I am not sure about its validity.

I am willing to give it a go if pointed to the right file I need to edit. These types of minor tweaks do not bother me. Sure I will use a utility if available - but if I can accomplish what I need I am ok with it.
