Hi,

I guess we're all waiting for this to happen:

Well, sometimes you have to poke that sleeping bear.

You can say that again! I have great time for the Xfce team. Like the NetBSD team they plug away at it quietly and efficiently, making solid, incremental improvements without fuss, and oblivious of the madding crowd outside.

Even if this is a long awaited update, I must say that I'm pleased with this upgrade. :)

Can anyone tell me if ConsoleKit2 will be a thing ?

cwizardone 02-04-2015 05:21 PM

Good news!
:)

ReaperX7 02-04-2015 05:28 PM

Great news from a great DE.

kingbeowulf 02-04-2015 11:10 PM

I am absolutely stunned. And all giddy.

It doesn't look like -current had gone RC and into a feature freeze, so it would be nice if our BDFL can get 4.12 into the next realease.

hitest 02-04-2015 11:27 PM

Fantastic news! XFCE is my favourite DE. :)

ReaperX7 02-05-2015 12:47 AM

I hope Xfce gets some level of automounting on BSDs that can supplicant udisks for Linux without adding too much. I have been keeping track of devd, but I haven't seen how well devd has been expanded as a device manager.

sbolokanov 02-05-2015 02:56 AM

Good news.
XFCE is my preferred DE when I'm not WM'ing. ;d

willysr 02-05-2015 03:03 AM

It really depends on whether they can fix all those critical bugs: https://wiki.xfce.org/releng/4.12/roadmap/critical-bugs

kevison 02-05-2015 08:43 AM

Very cool and good news to boot!
