xcuse me: no ANSI code on linux?

so long..
well, maybe my question is SO basic, but I'm really wonder why I cannot get chars thru
the conbination ALT + #ANSI-VALUE. (maybe it's a different procedure than in windoze)
how does it work in linux in general, and in Slack in particular?

That works but only in console, you could use kcharselect KDE tool to select
character in a X session, else you have to play with xmodmap or similar X
keyboard controls

thanks 4 answer, keefaz..
Don't know why I didn't try it on a console before..you're right: it works.. :D
About xmodmap: I saw its man-page, but must recognize I'm ~t0o SlAcK~ to try get
it working that way
..so, the easiest thing to do is use the kcharselect app.
thanx again!
