My educated guess is that you're readng the error-message
wrong :}
It should say
Code:
Error: Can't open display:
and means that Slackware's default settings are more
secure than the ones of the distro you were using before.
It's due to the fact that in the normal users desktop isn't
setting xhost +localhost by default, and you don't export
roots display to localhost, by default, either ;)
